Pension Fund that was never paid out

Hi. My Granpa who worked for Trasnet then railway for 27 years at your Freight rail department as a Maintanance Officer was never paid out his pension money. He passed away in 1979 and everytime we tried to get the money you told us there was no money. so what I wana know is how is that possible. We need you to pay out that money as my granma is still alive and i believe she is entitled to get the money her husband had left her.
