I am desperately trying to renew my licence disc as I am already in arrears.
On application I was notified that I can not as there is a warrant of arrest out for a traffic infraction of R100-00 in 2011 which I never received.
I am refered to the Greenpoint Traffic department who never answer their phones - after 3 days of trying I succeed in getting hold of someone who refers me to the Municipal Court of City Hall.
Here I am told I have an additional fine of R300-00 as this is a warrant of arrest. On explanation that I was not served a warrent, I am told that I can quash the R300-00 if I come to the courthouse. I am currently in Jhb for business and explained that I can not. Thus I had to send a representative and pay the full price.
It has been a week and the admin block is yet to be lifted. The Greenpoint traffic dept. are yet again useless and not even a phone is getting answered. In the meanwhile I am slipping further into arrears with my licence disc and had to pay the penalties for a menial fine I never received.
Service delivery my foot - more like extort! on... its just costing me as a citizen money.
Deeply upset at this lack of organisation and consideration.
