Department of Home Affairs
Home Affairs Incompetence

I Applied for my daughter's first ID and was informed (after only 3 weeks) it was sent to the Centurion branch on 06 August 2013.
After standing in a queue there for half hour they told me it was not there.
I phoned Home Affairs helpline and they opened a case for me, it's been 6 WEEKS since the document "went missing" and numerous phone calls later and all they say is the matter has been assigned to someone to follow up but no feedback on their system.
They now want ME to go to the Centurion office and look for it AGAIN.
How can it take only 3 weeks to issue a first Id document and longer than 6 weeks to "find" the missing Id?
We need the Id urgently as my daughter has to apply for a learners licence appointment as she has no other means of transport to and from school.
The Centurion branch's phone numbers listed on the web DO NOT WORK.
Telkom issued another phone number for them that JUST RINGS with no answer.
WHAT TO DO?
