On 13th October 2021 the Shumeez Scott Foundation went to Promenade Mall Liberty Mall Mitchells Plain as we went to Fashion world to do a fitting for our young adults with down syndrome (fully sponsored). After we finished we decided to take our young ladies for something to eat at Romans Pizza who offered us a meal free of charge including our facilitators. Due to Covid, Romans had to little tables and chairs for us to have a sit down meal. This was when we went to see mall management to ask if we could move a few tables and chairs from the food court to Romans so our young adults could sit down to enjoy their meal sponsored by Romans Pizza, and our request was denied in our faces. What was it to move the chairs? (we were willing to move it to Romans Pizza and put it back ourselves) Is this the mentality people have towards people who has special needs? When will the stigma be broken? When will people with special needs be treated as normal? I take my hat of to Romans Pizza who made it so comfortable for our young adults with special needs. This will be taken further.
