They contacted me in September and asked me to advertise in the telephone directory. I tolled the lady that I already advertise in the Telkom white and yellow pages and to my knowledge the artwork and documents were already send through. I then received a document from Free state directory from the same lady via email. I signed it and faxed it back to them. My understanding was that they just needed another signature to go ahead with the advertisement in the Telkom directory.
On 1 November I received an invoice for R3480 from Free state directory. This was strange since the invoices are usually deducted from my Telkom bill. After calling the number on the invoice I found out that this company had nothing to do with Telkom telephone directory. It is run by a company called 'Global E directory'. Despite several emails I finally got hold of 'Mrs Luke' who agreed to listen to me.
I explained to her that the sales lady (LISA) deceived me into thinking that she represented the Telkom telephone directory. I also brought it to her attention that the document that I signed were misleading since it does make reference to the 'telephone directory'.
They now refuse to cancel the order!
