Lions Womans Rugby League
DISCRIMINATION AGAINST WOMEN

Lions Women's Rugby have had a team representing the Lions for many years.

After being the best team in 2008 they are now on the verge of disappearing because the men involved with the administration is just not interested to develop the women.

They practice regularly with great enthusiasm for months just to be told that the league is now cancelled.

They have had a tour to Germany on the cards for this year, this is now in the balance.

The fields they use to practice at Johannesburg Athletics Club are now no longer available for practice.

They have to play matches against other provinces which is also not a certainty at the moment.

I feel that they discriminate against developing the women involved.

This is where the development takes place for the selection of the National team on the 15's and 7's and if there is no league or team from Gauteng a lot of talent will be wasted.

Gender inequality has been very obvious in this sport and this is against the law of equal opportunities for men and women.
