Stanley's life time guarantee worth nothing in SA

I bought a Stanley thermo flask in the eighties. Stanley flasks are expensive but at least the have a life time guarantee, or so i thought. It is rusted inside and i need them to replace the inner. I tried taking the flask to various suppliers. The answer: the flask is too old, i need to contact Stanley in USA. I emailed the customer care dept and they gave me a nr to phone in USA. I explained to them that a phone call to Stanley will cost me more than buying a new flask. They just keep sending me the number, explaining that they can do nothing. Why can we buy the Stanley products in SA, but no customer service.
