Our annual post box renewal of the past 22 years was due.

My wife went to the post office. The male staff member said that she need to bring proof of residency that should indicate our "Plot Xx" number.

My wife returned and submitted my ID Document that contained the page indicating my "Registered residential address". This page is provided with the ID by the SA Government and it indicates "Plot Xx" as my registered address. Although this document has been accepted by other Institutions as legal and acceptable for official contracts/RICA.FICA, etc; it was not acceptable to this staff member. He wanted a copy of our electricity account. My wife told him that we stayed on a plot and the account is with ESCOM under another person's name.

To RICA our cellphones we got proof from our Short term property Insurer in a form of an official letter stating "Proof of Residency". This letter indicated our title deed address and not the "Plot Xx" number and was again rejected by the RUDE staff member.

My wife then took our title deed (no Plot Xx nr) which was accepted by another staff member.

This was a terrible experience and we feel it might be based on discrimination.
