Kirby Repairs without a written quote
I have been dealing with MIC for the service of my Kirby for a number of years. Every time they do, I never get a written quote and more often than not the service always includes parts that are not included in the service. In the history of this I have never spent more than R 1300 or so to have this machine serviced. I know the parts are not cheap but this lady Marsha who always calls is nothing short of rude AND ABUSIVE. She called to say the machine needs various parts and would be resolved including the fact the machine is jumping and needs to be repaired. I agreed to the amount verbally at R 2750 and they proceeded with the said repairs. I explained I needed the machine back urgently and it was delivered by Molly. I said I was happy to make payment and she tested the machine and it seemed fin, . she then left and I left for a meeting. No sooner had I left when my housekeeper called to say the machine is jumping again and upon my return home I saw it was. My assistant immediately called MIC to mention this and they insisted they collect the machine but would not redeliver this until I had paid. This was never about my willingness to pay and always about whether I would be sure the machine was fixed before being expected to pay. The situation has digressed into a plethora of emotional messages from various people being insulting and condescending insisting I pay for a machine that was never properly quoted for and for which I have no proof of repairs done other than an invoice after the fact which excludes the replacement of a part of the machine. I have since been told this was never done because it was "too expensive:" to do. Surely you would have mentioned this to me when quoting on the repairs?? Why after the fact do I hear they have since not tampered with this part to ensure the machine is just ", made good" when in fact I was told all will be resolved and repaired. Now Im told this much needed part is alot more money and they will collect my machine but not return it to me until I have paid the account. Again, my willingness to pay is not the issue. The bad service, shocking tone they have taken with me and the demand to pay for something which is not fixed is the issue. I will pay for the basic service when and if this company discuss this matter with me professionally and present the quote they dictated to me over the phone. when comparing the two I will make a final decision. In the meantime I will get my machine repaired elsewhere, and deduct this cost from their invoice.
