I suspect some companies believe that by getting on to Groupon they will be pulled out of a financial crisis.
I bought my voucher for a facial at Skin Studio, and well in time before it expired tried to get an appointment via the only number given (there's no company website). In all, I left half a dozen voice mail messages and a couple of sms's, and absolutely no reply. I eventually chucked it in and requested a refund from Groupon. Only when i sent her a rather angry sms, did i immediately get a response, telling me i could do what i wanted!
She later went on to say that she had had a 'crysis' (her spelling) with her phone, which i gather from other dissatisfied customers is her standard response.
