Kidino Kids
Not a good kindergarten

We had our son of 3 in Kidino Kids in Gordon's bay for a few months. I would just like to warn parents who may be in the same position as us, looking for a school and who do not know the area. At face value everything looks okay, but one soon starts wondering. On various occasions we found kids glued to the TV, watching things as inappropriate as batman - the kids were 2-3 years old! The principle had mostly unmotivated staff working for her who spent their time sitting under a tree. She rarely ventured outside. All the toys had to stay inside and there were no toys in the sandpit. I assume this was so she and her staff would not have to pick anything up. She had small kids coming in a 6 and let them watch TV until 8, when lessons started. That is more than what any child should watch in a day, right there. The last straw was that our son told us one of the staff members hit him because he did not want to sleep. The principle first denied this, then said she does not know, then promised me feedback - which I off course never received. In spite of the aforementioned criminal behaviour - if I had to sum up the school and principle in one word - it would be lazy.

This complain is false, inaccurate and based on assumptions instead of facts.

The complainant starts by saying the child was in the school for a few months. Fact: He was only enrolled for just over a month.

The accused states that the children are placed in front of a TV from 6:00 till 8:00 in the morning. Fact: Children can only be dropped from 7:00 and are allowed to watch TV until 7:30. Other activities are also available for the learners. Children could watch some TV again around 17:00 while waiting to be collected at 17:30. The complainant never arrived outside her normal dropping and collecting time. To say that she found the children clued to the TV on various occasions is totally inaccurate.
She continues by saying that the content is not suitable for young children. (Fact: We screened all DVD's before children were allowed to watch it. The Bat Man DVD was age appropriate. We have since removed the TV from school since it does not fit into our school's curriculum and educational policy.)
She accuses the staff of being unmotivated and sitting mostly under a tree while I (the principal) hardly venture outside. Again this is an assumption. (Fact: My staffs are hard working, and the school follows a balanced daily program. Outside play is just a small part of the daily program. Since she was not at the school but for a few minutes daily she makes assumptions that is false and inaccurate. How does the complainant know how I (the principal) spend my day at school?
The complainant continues by saying that the children are not allowed to take toys outside, states that she (once again) assumes that the staff are too lazy to pick it up. (Fact: Children are not allowed to take inside toys outside for obvious reasons. Once again she makes assumptions and is not stating facts.
The complainant ends her complain by stating the last straw was when her son told her that someone hit him because he did not want to sleep. She continues by accusing me that I first denied it happened, then that I did not know and then that I will give her feedback. (Fact: I never denied it since I was not there. I did voice my surprise since all staff members are well aware that it is a criminal offence to hit children in school. If found guilty they could be suspended immediately and face criminal charges. I set out to investigate the matter IMMEDIATELY. It was agreed that the complainant and her husband would come in later in the afternoon in order to hear the outcome of the investigation. They never came. Accusing me from never hearing from me again is not my doing but their own. Neither the complainant nor her husband ever contacted me again in any manner to hear the outcome of the investigation.
