We went under debt counselling in the early 2000's, under which ABSA was also one of the creditors. An arrangement was made and we started paying a reduced instalment.
If my memory serves me right, the last few years we started receiving messages and phone calls from Brooks & Luyt, out of the blue, what the reason for the calls and texts was, no one could tell us. I took it up with our debt counsellors a few times, where they every time sent the necessary paperwork to Brooks & Luyt to inform them of the debt counselling, but to no avail. They totally ignored the request to stop harassing us. I still receive sms's and nowadays I'm not getting any phone calls, but missed calls.
From experience I know that no attorney or such sends out these messages or do phone calls for free. After my term is over I'm expecting a bill from Brooks & Luyt, which I'm going to ignore, I WILL NOT PAY ANYTHING, as they weren't part of the process from the start. Am I wrong in thinking this way?
What I want, is that Brooks & Luyt must stop their sms's, their telephone calls (missed calls), any communication. As I said, you were never part of the process, from the start.
