Medihelp was my first choice when I started teaching. It then got too expensive and I was forced to cancel my membership as I could not afford it anymore.
I gave enough notice and cancelled my debit orders at the bank. I did not realize that they wanted me to pay for another extra month as I had stopped using the medical aid.
They forced me to make payment which I did, but found out that they had listed my default on the credit bureau.
I got a lawyer to contact them and requested that they remove my name as I have already settled in full. Medihelp's attorneys who did the collection gave me a letter to state that it was paid in full and they had no further claim against me, but they refused to remove the default. The default was early in 2012.
I am now trying to buy a cheaper car because I can save R800-00 a month, but Wesbank who is my current financial institution will not give me a loan because of the default. They will only help if I get removed.
I don't know who to speak to at Medihelp to assist be in getting it removed. Surely it is not fair to punish me for 3 years because of this mishap. I paid my debts in full.
