Our neighbor was taken to St Mary's by my parents as he required urgent medical assistance just after midnight on the 23rd of December 2013. He was admitted into the ICU and my parents and the patient's wife left the hospital around 3am and the patient was able to communicate when they left him at St Mary's.
At 10am my parents and the patients' wife went to go visit him to see how he was doing. The nurse at the reception area in ICU told them that the patient has passed away around 6am and she thought the previous shift had called the wife to let her know.
This is by far a worst kind of mistake by any hospital, not informing the spouse about the death of her husband and not even preparing her before giving her the news.
Shame on you Life St Mary's, your communication protocols are the worst I have ever heard of.
