As Discovery is the leading force in medical aids, no other option was considered when I applied for medical aid cover. I submitted my Keycare application with all supporting documents on the 7th of November 2013, including 2 payslips from part-time employment that i had for a period of a few weeks. I also submitted a letter stating that i am unemployed. I was then requested to submit bank statements which i provided. Subsequent to that, I was requested to provide my latest payslips. In response to this request, I advised that i was unemployed and this information was provided at application stage. After 10 days with no feedback or the courtesy of a response, I now follow-up with the call centre and the requirement of the payslip is still outstanding. This is ridiculous! Is this Discovery's way of imposing unnecessary barriers upon me? I feel that this is just a way of purposely making the process of applying for cover extremely difficult and aggravating. Is it because i can only afford the Keycare Option? Is this Discovery's way of Treating Customers Fairly? Is this some form of discrimination against the unemployed and elderly?
