I treated my 82 year old mother to a celebratory birthday lunch at the Mount Nelson last week. The restaurant was empty with no atmosphere whatsoever. Main course speciality was a dry and bland tasting angel fish. The accompanying mixed vegetables were brown and overcooked. The 'crusty' mash potato was dry and crumbly. My mother ordered her favourite - chicken curry. This also came with brown overcooked veggies. Her sambals, one consisting of a small pot of finely chopped tomato and onion were used as same garnishing on my angel fish! Unimaginative, extremely expensive, no atmosphere and disappointing meals. Such a pity as I doubt my dear mother will now be left with an unpleasant memory of her 82nd birthday treat! What has happened to you Mount Nelson?!
