Medi-Clinic
Declining a child a non scheduled medication

My son was rushed off with signs of appendicitis. However given the nature of the situation you would expect that a hosiptial of the calibre and standard would have compassion. Expect the nurseing staff are more concerned about getting in trouble from the doctor if they do not do what is required before the specialist comes out. My son was admitted for overnight observations due to reasons that a parent understands. Unfortutenly, due to hosptial policy, my daugher was not allowed to stay, however due to my husband tendering the hosptial politely agreed. However during the few hours in the paed ward my daughter complained of a headache. I had given her water. Earlier hours of the morning, I had asked the sister to provide calpol, but they declined. I then went to ER and spoke to a DR and was informed that she must be consulted. Pathetic! Not even a scheduled medication. A child has a headache and needs to sleep, however DR and Nurses decline! Where is the code of Ethic to help a child! Theres a saying, a mother knows her child and follows her gut instict. The service I am receiving currently is not acceptable. Happy to take money, but no compassion or care provided for a child!
