We reside in Port Elizabeth and became grandparents two years ago. Unfortunately the relationship between my son and the mother of his child did not work out, but we see him as often as possible. Anyway, the other grandmother (ex girlfriend's mother) mostly takes responsibility for the baby and always takes matters in her own hands. The baby got sick 16 January 2013 and she decided to take our grandson to Life St Georges Hospital here in PE. The baby was admitted and the other grandmother wrote my husband's name as the Guarantor and signed next to it. My husband received the account which was well over R6000.00 we explained to the accounts lady for private patients that we did not have anything to do with this and that the person that signed admission, should be responsible for the account. For month it fell on deaf ears and we were handed over to an attorney!! How can you admit someone and just let the hospital bill someone else? We will do anything for our grandson, don't get me wrong, but the fact is that how can the hospital not phone to confirm with the medical aid and just send the account to someone else to settle! USELESS - will rather use NETCARE!!
