My wife had a hernia op about 4 months ago for which we had to do a co payment of R3000. Fair enough, Fedhealth specifically states the co payment in their policy so I did not have a problem with it. After a car accident 2 months later, the hernia broke loose again and my wife has to go in for exactly the same op again. Same doctor, same procedure, same codes, same medical aid but this time R7500 co payment. We complained and requested a reason for this increase and got the response that certain medical equipment will be used during the procedure. We checked with the doctor who is supposed to do the op and he confirmed: same procedure, same codes, double standards from Fedhealth. Since then, the fund manager is hiding behind his 14 days turnaround time so we still do not have an answer. Fedhealth - Real Medical Aid - Really Slow.
