I cannot understand or accept this. My daughter has insulin dependant diabetes. One of the Insulin pumps that Discovery pays for is the Accucheck Combo Pump. We got the insulin pump because it is very user friendly for a 7year old child (alone at school). Discovey pays for the most of the consumables for this pump, but decided not to pay for the test strips for this pump. And because this is a pump and blood glucose meter combo, you need those test strips, other wise you cannot use the pump at all!!!
So how on earth can you pay for the pump and accept the claim for the pump and now that we have the pump, you do not pay for the test strips which is one of the consumables for THIS pump, approved by YOU!!!???
And please... diabetes type 1 just HAPPENS, its not because of something you did wrong. We look so well after my child. Her HbA1c is done every 3 months and is below 7, 5 as suppose to prevent complications. So WHY do we need to get up 2-3 times every night to test her to prevent complications, and through the day she test to look after herself. Its totally unacceptable that we have to pay every cent of a consumable that's part of a approved pump!!!
