Getting ripped off by Apple Johannesburg

I live in Johannesburg South Africa and have a complaint about how Apple is currently being run and handled here. This is a discussion I have had with a number of people and everyone seems to have the same answer. I do not know if Apple in the US is aware of how terrible the customer service is here in Johannesburg and that we all feel helpless as to how to change it. This is a request to Apple US to please assist us here.

I bought my husband the 7th generation Nano not too long ago. I could only find one sports arm band available and had been to about 20 different stores, so I bought it and it said for sports, running etc. The Nano went into a cover on a band that wrapped around his wrist. He ran with it twice. After the second run the Nano would not work and looked like it had water damage.

I took it into the iStore in Sandton Drive. They said it was water damage, I explained that it was from sweat and how can this be - it is supposed to be used for running etc so how can it be damaged from sweat. They said they would send it in to the workshop but don't think they will be able to do anything. They sent it in and came back with a quotation to fix it that was R100 less than buyi
