Approximately 5 years ago I purchased a new Kirby Sentria after a home demo - paid over R20 000, 00 for this "must have lifetime guarantee" vacuum cleaner. This vacuum cleaner has been serviced 3 or so times (not exactly cheap). Towards the end of last year it was serviced and the entire cord had to be replaced (it basically fell apart). Guess what it's February and my Kirby is "dead". Took it into Kirby and get told "the armature is gone" - another R1300, 00 or so to fix. On asking what could have caused "the armature to go" I get told it was probably something that was sucked up - well hello Kirby is that not what vacuum cleaners are for? And if it was a key or coin or something it should have landed up in the bag (approx R50 a bag) and not damage "the armature". On going on to the Kirby website my "lifetime guarantee" vacuum cleaner has a 3 year guarantee. For the amount of money I have spent on my Kirby, I could have bought a new vacuum cleaner every month! Don't be fooled by the sales pitch - you not getting anything special. My advice don't waste your money!!
