Gamin let me down Edge 800. Bought thin Nov 2011

Took my Edge 800 into the Honeydew premises as it simply switches itself off after 30 seconds and the more you reboot the less time it stays on. The exact same thing happened about a year or so ago and Garmin fixed that by upgrading the software. This time I was told that it was a hardware failure which I doubt seeing as it had exactly the same problem the first time. The sales person told me that I could resolve the problem by paying in R1600 and they would replace the unit. I agreed grudgingly as my instinct was saying that this is not right. When I asked if this would include the updated software I was told that would cost another R400. The first time I took it in the software was updated for free? Come on Garmin your customers are not thick. I have had a very different experience this time round and my opinion of Garmin has taken a big knock. Other products are on the market and I will be having a look at those in future. Lastly when the Garmin failed I was in the Parys area and was totally lost!!
