We contracted Si02 to design and install a frameless balustrade on our patio. This was not going to be a cheap exercise and would cost about R75000. After paying the 60% deposit, only 50% of the glass was delivered and fitted. The glass was fitted terribly and many of my patio tiles were broken by the workers. Upon closer inspection, my husband discovered that the glass being used was 8mm glass and not the 12mm glass as originally quoted for. We later found out that this is illegal as the thinnest glass that can be used for balustrades is 12mm. After complaining about this to the owner of the company, Craig Palm, the glass was exchanged for the correct thickness. The 12mm glass took forever to be delivered and the glass was installed even slower and really badly. We still only had about half the glass that was needed to complete the project. We tried to get hold of Craig numerous times during this period but he did not answer emails or calls. We later found out that Craig had a cash flow problem and had taken a few deposits and run off with people's cash without completing the work. We have not seen Craig again. I cannot believe that people can get away with people's money
