I purchased a HP 3070A Deskjet Printer while living in the UK.
- I returned to SA and recently attempted to find the cartridges here in SA.
- HP shop kindly informed me that I needed to have the machine "regionalised" for the SA cartridges to work.
- Was refered to the technical support team, who were great! They walked me through the steps, over the phone. Unfortunately it didn't work.
- I was refered to the service centre (3rd Party, "Ensure IT Services") and took my machine there 08/08/2013.
- On 12/08/2013, I received a quotation for R400! After complaining, they offered to reduce to R250.
My machine isn't broken! - so why should I pay? In/out of warranty is irrelevant, as I did not ask for my printer to be region specific (duh)! HP SHOULD BE LIABLE FOR THE COST. I am forced to go to HP service centre because it's HP specific issue; no self-help, or other option! If I don't pay, my machine becomes a doors-stopper. IF IT WAS FREE TO ASSIST ME OVER THE PHONE, WHAT'S, CHANGED?
Complaints dept was hopeless, I don't blame them though! And I've probably also spent as much money as the quote trying to sort this out!..
Never buy another HP product again!
