I have a 2011 Alfa Romeo, Giulietta 1750i. This Monday (18/02/2013) I was unable to select gear after the car started; I contacted Arnold Chatz (where I purchased the vehicle) and they advised me to bring the car in for diagnostics.
A day later, I am told that a pin had broke of the pressure plate. He told me he will forward the matter to Fiat Group to authorize for having the repair done through the warranty.
On the 20/02/2013, I receive a phone call explaining to me that Fiat Group will only cover the cost of the parts and I should cover the cost of the labor, reason being is that the car is almost out of warranty.
Please explain this? I was told this car has a 5 year warranty. The mileage on the car is about 34000km; and it's almost out of warranty? HOW?
This is clearly a fault with the car and not through wear and tear. A clutch will doesn't just give up, there are signs. And if it where on the verge of breaking it should have been pointed out during the service that happened in January 2013.
This is absolutely unacceptable and I will never recommend any vehicle of Fiat! I will escalate this matter further as I am sure this goes against CPA. TERRIBLE!
