I purchased a brand new Hyundai I20 from Hyundai Paarden Eiland in Dec. 2011. I traded in my daughter's vehicle on this vehicle. After taking delivery of the car I noticed that the Motor Vehicle Licence (MVLX) had my daughter's contact details and I then queried it with Hyundai. I was told that the vehicle was wrongly registered in my daughter's name, but that they will rectify the problem, and I don't have to worry about a thing. I did just that, and never gave it another thought. When I got to my vehicle parked in Cape Town and discovered a fine for an expired license, all alarm bells went off. I have since been to the licensing department to take out my new license, and was told that they can't issue my license because the car needs to go through a road worthy test. WTH. I was the first and only owner of the vehicle. Hyundai made the mistake, not me. I'm sitting with a R500 fine for an expired license, and will in all probability receive numerous while waiting for Hyundai to sort this problem out. I will not take the vehicle for a roadworthy, as I did not buy it secondhand. Mark from Hyundai Paardeneiland does not know how to solve the problem. WHAT NOW HYUNDAI!!
