As a past owner of a new BMW motorcycle, I'm disappointed by my experience in three ways:
I was in Stellensbosch in Dec and popped in at Donford. I had cash, and wanted a F800GS.
After being ignored for 30min (perhaps because I'm dressed too casually?!) I leave Donford and decide to try my luck back in Gauteng.
I then find a F800GS with a private seller, and ATTEMPT to organise insurance:
- The first time I was passed on 3 times and then the call was left unattended
- The second time I was told that someone would return my call, after I left me details. This didn't happen
- The third time I called, I was again passed onto someone, put on hold, and the call died
- My fourth attempt was to use their on-line form
After 2 days someone came back to me, but by then the deal had gone cold.
The third part of my disappointment is that BMW advertise their bikes at a certain price on-line, but in fact that is not the price when you go to the dealer.
I'm loyal to the brand, but honestly, others might not be and be sure that Yamaha, Honda etc offer equally good bikes these days.
I really think BMW can improve their service, especiall the fiasco of getting insurance
