BMW South Africa
Selling damaged cars

On 11 January 2013 I purchased non BMW vehicle from South East Auto BMW in Germiston. I was told that the vehicle is in excellent condition mechanically and nothing needs to be done since it has passed roadworthy certification. Two weeks later, on the 21 January I took the vehicle in for its scheduled service and received a bill for R24 000 in repairs. I was asked to obtain the list of repairs needed on a letterhead which I promptly obtained. After submitting to South East BMW I was told that they will do nothing to help me as the vehicle was sold with roadworthy certification. Besides going against CPA regulations, this is high. I've taken the vehicle in to investigate how much of the defects my after-market warranty will cover and found out that my warranty policy has not even been submitted to SA Warranties! If BMW can deal in this manner with a "non-BMW" vehicle how can clients expect better treatment in any other scenario?
