Bad workmanship and charging for work not done

My fiance Bruce Coombe had engine failure 0n the 9/10/2013. He took it to Van Zyl where he had his vehicle engine re-done and it packed up within 700 kms. It broke down in Scottburgh on the South Coast. After paying R32000.00 he did not expect that to happen. He contacted Van Zyls Auto and they told him to return the vehicle to their shop at his expense and they would have a look at it.
He explained that the cost to him was going to be too high and offered to fly any of the concerned parties down to have a look at it. They refused point blank. He then had Clive Lee engineering have a look at it and they quoted him R14000.00 to fix. Many of the repairs reputed to have been done by Van Zyls Auto were not done, according to Clive Lee engineering. A video was taken by Mr Lee pointing out the defects reportedly fixed by Van Zyls Auto. My fiance approached Van Zyls and asked that they consider what they felt to be a reasonable compensation (refund) as the repaired engine was definitely faulty. They have refused point blank to consider any recompense. I might add that due to all this my fiance, at 62, is now financially stressed as he does mini moves to earn a living and lost 3 weeks
