A little more than a month ago I purchased a Merc C230 Coupe from McCarthy Menlyn 2nd hand. The salesman told us the vehicle was 100% and was checked by them thoroughly. After having the car for 2 days, we noticed a shudder. I contacted the salesman and told him, he said we should take the car to Cargo and see what the problem was, also the left indicator did not work. After Cargo gave a quote on what was wrong McCarthy refused to pay it and said the car was serviced 4000km before it was traded in, However Cargo says it wasn't. On Tuesday the gearbox packed up - my ins towed the car to Cargo Alberton and they quoted me R29600 to fix the vehicle. The next day McCarthy towed the car away to knows where and now Mr. Barlow informs me I have no CPA rights and he will not fix my car. I don't even know where my car is! This guy is rude and obnoxious and is trying to intimidate me because I am a woman. He says his "person" can fix the car for R17000 but I must pay it. I am not going to pay as I haven't even had the car for 2 months!!! This is totally unacceptable. It is impossible for to have messed up the gearbox in less than 2 months. I am a woman of 46 years old.
