I bought a new KIA Sportage 2.0 in 2010 (2009 model). The car developed a resonating metallic noise on pull away. Northcliff told me it was downpipe and replaced it. The noise was still there and when i took it in for the next service, I mentioned the same problem. Again I was told it was the downpipe. I told them it was done already and told it is a common problem. They were to call me to to let me know when to take the car back, and nothing.
Then I booked my car in at Randburg on Malibongwe Drive for the next service. they told me it was my gearbox and that it is a common problem and there is nothing that can be done about it.
For the following service (now out of maintenance plan) i decided to try Weltevredenpark. Again mentioned the noise and was told it was my clutch. And guess what? it is a common problem. They promised to try and sort it out with head office and in true KIA style, no-one came back to me. 3 diagnosis from different workshops for the same noise. Who do I believe. This means we cannot trust the KIA mechanics. Useless bunch.
I sent a complaint to KIA SA, and they are just as useless as the branches. No reply. Just like all the complaints on this site.
