KIA SPORTAGE 2.0 CRDi MANUAL 2006
I bought A new KIA Sportage in 2006, but the car developed a "rattling" noise in the drive system during 2009 with some 32 000km on the clock. The workshop said that the clutch needed replacement, as it was a known defect on these models. It was replaced under guarantee with an upgraded clutch. The problem was gone, but re-appeared during 2012. The internet lists several similar problems with many owners. KIA has in fact issued an official bulletin in this regard and states that the clutch discs must be replaced with newly improved ones: Clutch Previous - 41100-39295 New- 41100-39300.
Therefore, I sent four mail messages to KIA during July 2013, asking the following questions, but did not receive ANY reply:
o What will happen if I keep on driving the car in its current condition? We are planning a long trip shortly and I don't want to be stranded somewhere on the open road (or at night);
o If I take my car back to the workshop that has serviced my car since new, will Kia be prepared to replace the clutch again, as it is clearly a production problem on some of these models?
