We've been customers of this particular Cattle Baron for nigh on 20 years, and this was quite likely the worst meal we've ever had. The food itself wasn't bad, but the chips were very clearly cooked with old oil. Incredibly greasy - poke the chip with a fork, and the chip falls apart. We called the manager, and it took him 15 minutes to arrive at the table, and that's including me going to the counter to see what was taking him so long. Upon arriving at the table, he admitted that the chip mechanism needed cleaning. He didn't say why this hadn't been done already. He then said he'd take it up with senior management - in other words, it wasn't his problem. He offered baby potatoes in lieu of decent chips, which perhaps they should've done from the get go. We didn't see the manager again. When the bill arrived, we were presented with a R26 discount on our R340 order, but only after we queried why we were paying the full price for a meal we weren't entirely satisfied with. This was not the level of service that we have been accustomed to from this branch. Special mention must be made for our waiter, Denzil - he was fantastic. Unfortunately, he was let down by his management.
