My girlfriend and I decided to try Mike's Kitchen at the end of August 2013 for the first time. I remember as a child that we always had enjoyable experiences so I though why not give it a go. The staff was friendly when we arrived. As a starter I ordered the crispy potato wedges with bacon and cheese, but what I received as a couple of dried-out wedges that was clearly cooked in advance and left to dry in a fridge, topped with semi fried bacon (not even crispy) and a mountain of fatty, oily cheese, disgusting. For mains I ordered the special potjie of the evening which was oxtail (against better judgment), the alternative was a beef curry potjie priced at around R80-R85, so I thought the oxtail should set me back around R100-R120 based on the alternative, as I understand oxtail is more expensive. When my food arrived I got a massive plate filled with sauce and 4 pieces of oxtail, 1 medium piece and 3 end of tail, so around 100gram worth of meat. The meat was not cooked completely so it was tough, I ate maybe 3/4's of the meat. The bill for this dish was charged R160, ridiculous. I have sent 2 complaint emails via the website and no response. Mike's kitchen takes no accountability!
