We celebrated my fianc? 's 30th with family at the Irene Dairy and booked for the braai buffet long in advance. I can actually not tell you how embarrassed and disappointed I was with regards to the quality of food. Some of my guests actually refused the food and went hungry, I was really humiliated!
The chicken and the boerewors was beyond raw. Everyone had to go back and ask to have it re-cooked after cutting open a piece of meat.
There was not even a bread roll in sight for the kids to put their sausages on.
The "steak" was the same minute steak pieces I can cook for my kid at home.
There was a long wait at the braai area were people just stared at empty containers while we waited for some meat to actually be cooked.
It was a disaster to say the least. There is so much hype about Irene Dairy, the beautiful settings but I can say that everyone at our table (of which only 12 of the 15 ate) has no intention of ever returning or recommending the venue to friends. We were all disappointed.
A braai buffet conjures up ideas of boerewors rolls, chicken sossatti's, T-bone steak... And we got some hard pap and raw chicken. Not cool at all!
