I logged onto Internet banking this morning to find out that my account had been frozen.
I called the Standard Bank helpline which then directed me to the FICA Info Services. Apparently they require some FICA info (the account has been active since February 2008).
They then directed me to my business banker. I received a telephone number which does not work.
I called the FICA department again, who this time got me through to my business banker (who has never contacted me and who I never knew I had)
He confirmed that the account was frozen due to FICA non-compliance.
I did not receive notification via SMS or post (as he suggested should have happened). The account was just frozen without any warning (after being in operation for 5 years!?)
This morning I need to make payments out of the business account but cannot do so due to the account being frozen without notice.
I am now waiting for an e-mail from the business banker to try and get my business back on the road.
