During the weekend of 8 - 10/2/13 we experienced heavy rain accompanied by hail and a roof in an outside building was damaged. The room in occupied by a female student. On the 12/02/13 I reported Roof and ceiling damage to our brokers, Olivier en Mans in Potchefstroom. Kotie registered the claim, send a contractor to have a look. He reported back to the brokers. Santam then appointed a claims assessor to have a look at the roof. He showed up on 21/2/13. He called me on 4/3/13 to inform me that Santam will pay just for the ceiling. During the past 4 weeks I've called Kotie a few times to ask about the progress AND to remind her that the damage is getting worse. I've also talked to the assessor, pointing out the same problem - Potch is getting a lot of rain and the damage is getting worse.

Last Friday it rained again, I rushed to the property to see what's happening to the roof. The ceiling had a hole in by now and the student's bed was wet. When I touched the mattress, the water made puddles around my hand.

Santam refuse to pay for the damage to the roof, they will only fix the ceiling. They won't pay for the damaged mattress either, which could have been prevented.
