My wife placed notice on her 32 day Notice Deposit. The notice fell due on the 22nd of January. When she went to get it she was told that it would take a further 3 days. Because it fell over a weekend, it would take even longer. The contract states that you only have to give 32 days notice, not 35. The fact that Standard Banks systems would not allow the disposal to an access account is the banks problem that must be fixed so as to not inconvenience the customer. It seems the bank is only willing to hold its customers to their contract terms but not the other way around. What are the remedies for breach of contract in this instance? Shocking level of service from a Bank that is losing market share daily to its competitors.
