First i could not get a garage card from FNB cause i did not have a credit record but Ned bank managed to offer me one even though i have not banked with them before. I have been banking with FNB ever since i started banking

Recently i got a call from one of the FNB call centre agents and he offered me a Gold credit card package. He explained all the terms and conditions and he asked me questions regarding the application, how much I earn, were I work etc. I gave all the details he needed telephonic. After a minute he tells me that I can get 12500 on my gold credit card which i in turn tell him its too much he must reduced it to 8000.

He says I must send my ID and payslip so my application can be approved, which I did and I get an sms later on that my application has been declined. I called to find out why and they tell me that I need 6months credit record.

Why call to offer me something and later on decline my application? Why can another bank offer me credit & my own bank can't? Don't the call centre agents know the minimum requirements for credit card applications? I am considering changing banks since my own bank can't meet my needs.
