In 2007 at the age of 22 I assisted my mother in purchasing a home but what I didn't know was that I would never be able to purchase a home of my own. The property in question was valued at R1.350000 of which my mother qualified for a bond of R1.150000 at the time so I was told just to assist her to get the extra R200000 shortfall. I was told that this would not affect me in any way as I would still be able to buy my own property should the time come and the bank granted the bond. At the time I was earning a lousy R96000 per annum.
Fast forward to 2013, everytime I try and apply for credit I get declined based on the fact of affordability on futher investigation its because I am 50% shareholder of a bond, I was told wouldn't affect me. My question is how was I granted 50% of a bond clearly I couldn't afford then let alone even now. I have even tried for my father to substitute/replace me and for me to be excluded, but it seems not even that is possible! none of the consultants seem to know how to do this. I have tried for so long to have this bond removed from my name. I am frustrated and depressed as I have run out of option and my life is at a stand still. I really wish and pray for assist
