After viewing my bank statement I came across a bank charge of R7. (I know it's only R7, but if this happens to all their customers, how much are they making?) After querying this I discovered it's a fee charged because I did not authorise payment. After further inspection it turns out that Checkers swiped my card twice and on both times the payment was declined (with more than sufficient funds available in my account). On the third time it went through. However because it had been declined twice I was charged a fee. I queried this and the call center agent said it was probably a mistake with Checker's machine, to which I responded "Then why am I paying for it". The response was that this is the way the system is set up and that I should take up the problem with Checkers. My question to FNB is what exactly will Checkers be able to do? The fee was deducted and paid to FNB, a fee which was unfairly deducted from my account, due to a faulty machine. This is the most ridiculous bank charge that I have ever heard of in my life!
