We have made an electronic payment from Nedbank to Standard Bank for an employee's salary paid with one digit short on the account number. This should have resulted that the amount be place on a suspense account but what transpired an additional digit was added by Standard Bank in front to enable the transaction to be processed on somebody else's account. This person cannot be contacted by Standard Bank & therefor the money could not be returned according to them. After contacting their customer complaints desk they said I must go and lay a charge of against them.
