I had a standard bank cheque account which i closed about 2 years ago.
now i am receiving statements with amounts of -R2500 and i got a call from a debt collector today to say that i have an access loan with an amount outstanding of R5220.24.
the branch that i went to to close the account was Standard bank in Queensburgh, i recently went into the durban north branch to query this and they told me i have to go to the branch in Queensburgh but i have not had an opportunity to go to the branch.
i called the standard bank call centre today and spoke to Lindy and she says she cannot help me and i am liable for the outstanding amounts and will have to pay.
i refuse to pay this amount because as far as i am aware my account was closed and i have no loan amount owing to standard bank.
