I deposit monthly foreign cheques, and I have to fill out all the paperwork and print it out at home every month. This month, it seems there's been a change of personnel at this branch, and the Forex dept (which was never manned, anyway) was closed. All I needed to do was hand the signed cheques and paperwork over to someone, as I have done every month for the past 2 years.
This time, I was informed I would have to join the queue and speak to a consultant, because the Forex guy was on leave. I protested that all I needed to do was hand the cheques over, but no. I insisted upon speaking to the manager, but she said the same thing. I was therefore forced to sit in the queue for over an hour before I could approach a consultant, hand the cheques over and leave. A complete waste of my time to achieve a 1-second transaction. They were most accommodating before, ensuring I did not have to wait in the queue just to hand over the cheques. The attitude of the manager her minions was surly and ungracious, with no regard for helping a client, making the motto 'how can we help you? ' a joke. This is a total failure of customer service
