FNB too busy with new customers to assist old ones

I have never had an Edgars account & to my surprise found out from FNB when I tried to apply for an overdraft last week that they have placed a alert, listed as an info alert on my account. This has now prevented me from receiving any form of credit from FNB. I have subsequently contacted Edgars who told me that it was an invitation to open an account with them! This is ridiculous & Edgars has a funny way of marketing if that's the case. I have spoken to 3 people from Edgars who have all said the same thing and therefore know nothing of an info alert. I have also spoken to all 5 credit bureaus and there seems to be no listing on my credit profile from Edgars, so from where did FNB get the info?
I have since relayed all this info to FNB but have been told that it's not their problem & that I need to sort out my own disputes with the 3rd party. I'm just curious as to how I am suppose to get this listing off my profile with FNB as no one besides them have any record of this?! The ref. number that is listed on my credit profile from FNB's side doesn't even exist with any credit bureau. I'm a platinum customer with a business acc... but I guess it remains the customer's problem!
