Our dog was involved in a serious motor vehicle accident a few months ago. She was very badly injured - the vets didn't give her much of a chance at first. She had a bad head injury, bruising on her lungs, internal bleeding, 2 shattered molars, and a badly fractured femur in her back leg. But knowing we have a Medipet policy meant that we could afford to take her to the best specialists. She was stabilised at our local vet (St Francis), then transferred to Cape Animal Medical Centre where she spent 4 days in ICU. From there she was transferred to Panorama vet where the orthopedic surgeon fixed her leg and the dentist removed the shattered teeth. She spent a further 3 days in ICU there. A week after she came home, we rushed her back to CAMC late one night because of complications with her head injury. About 2 months after her operations, we took her back to Panorama to have the 1 pin removed from her leg.
Every one of our claims has been settled to date, most within a few days of submitting them.
Looking at our dog today, you would not say she was fighting for her life a few months ago. I had my doubts as to the value of this policy, but am so grateful that we have it.
