My husband was in communication with a broker - the broker put us in touch with ABSA & we were quoted R174.50 by ABSA for full comprehensive cover for his Golf IV Gti. The consultant from ABSA called my husband back twice to confirm the amount for the insurance, and at the time he gave us the quote he knew the full details of the vehicle.

Long story short - my husband confirmed the quote & asked for the first premium to be deducted at the beginning of July. On 01 July an amount of R958 was deducted. I contacted the broker who escalated to FSP, who escalated to ABSA & ABSA's response was that they were "not willing to insure the risk for R174.50"!!

The broker confirmed that the money would be returned to me & that we would remail insured until end July. Well, the money was returned but ABSA would not insure us until end July unless we paid them pro-rata for the remainder of the month. My problem is this: #1 ABSA quoted us R174.50 then reneged on this, #2 They only received confirmation to debit my account for R174.50 but FRAUDENTLY debited my account for R958, #3 Did not send me any form of confirmation or policy documents so they took my money yet provided no service
