First National Bank
ATM - Withdrawals

I withdrew money from the FNB ATM in Boksburg on 06 July 2013, in amongst my notes were old R200 which I was not aware of at the time. When it came to pay for my utility bills in the afternoon, the shops very politely pointed out that they were old notes and no-one accepted them. I even went to Capitec Bank which was still open but to no avail. And FNB is not open on a Sunday!

So on Monday morning I went into Bedfordview FNB hoping they would be able to help me as I drew the money from an FNB ATM... No such luck, I was forced to go all the way back to FNB Boksburg to exchange the notes, luckily they did and without any questions. So my questions are as follows:

1. Why put the notes in the ATM in the first place??? Shouldn't the bank check when the ATMs are filled up?

2. Why couldn't the Bedfordview branch help me?

Will FNB pay the reconnection fee of my utilities when they are cut off from not being able to pay on time? Who pays my petrol to travel from Bedfordview to Boksburg? Who pays my wage when I have to take off from work to travel all the way to Boksburg?

This was such an inconvienece... for lack of procedures that should have been in place.
