Credit card cancelled

Hi, 2 weeks ago 22.6.2013 my cheque card was debited as i had paid my credit card instalment on a different date. i did not know that dates were from 27 of each month, so i paid in 10k before this run in june which was not accept by fnb, So i phoned the line as i was not aware that you do this debiting, the costumer service was great but only after the cheque was cancelled did they inform me it was fnb that took money off, i could have blown a gasket, why not say this before its cancelled, on the monday went into the bank to get a new cheque card after i finished with a consultant she told me that everything is fine, i inquired about my credit card to see if that was active as i had nothing else to use for purchases, she garanteed me it was, a few days later i was at a shop buying something and the power went out as soon as the slip from the card machine printed, that night the town had a power failure and i went to get takeout, my credit card did not work, not thinking about it i used another card, yesterday i got a call from fnb to find out about my crazy store purchase, and the person told me my card was active, only to find out its not while trying to buy fuel now
